Rogelio D. Adlaon, a beloved husband, dedicated teacher, and devout servant of the Church, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, at Providence Cedars Sinai, Tarzana Medical Center. He was 79 years old.
Early Life
Rogelio's story began on October 16, 1944, in Salvador, Sierra Bullones, Bohol, where he was born to Basilio Fuertes Adlaonand Alodia Gumapac Decasa. Growing up in this tight-knit community, he was deeply influenced by his parents' strong values of hard work, faith, and the importance of education.
Academic Achievements
From an early age, Rogelio showed a remarkable aptitude for learning. He excelled at Sierra Bullones Central Elementary School, graduating as valedictorian, and continued to shine academically through high school, where he was honored as first honorable mention. His passion for education led him to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. During his college years, he was an active member of the Cursillomovement and served as a lector at the Immaculate Conception Parish, reflecting his deep-rooted faith and commitment to community service.
Family and Career
On January 27, 1974, Rogelio married Teresita Buslon at the Immaculate Conception Parish. Their marriage was a testament to love, respect, and shared faith. Together, they built a family grounded in the values they cherished. Rogelio and Teresita were blessed with five successful children, who each pursued their own paths and achieved success.
Rogelio dedicated his professional life to education, working as an agricultural teacher at Sierra Bullones Central School. He found immense joy and fulfillment in nurturing young minds and instilling in them a love for learning. His dedication and passion for teaching left a lasting impact on his students and colleagues alike.
Church and Community Service
Faith was the cornerstone of Rogelio's life. As a devoted member of the Church, he served in various capacities, including as a member of the Eucharistic Ministry and the coordinator of the Catholic Family Life Apostolate. He was also the first coordinator of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement in their parish and served as president of the League of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Through these roles, he touched many lives, sharing the teachings of Christ and fostering a strong sense of community.
Life in the United States
Later in life, Rogelio and Teresita migrated to the United States, where they continued their faith journey. They joined the Legion of Mary, recruited by Sister Celita and Sister Cathy, and remained active in their new community. Despite being far from home, Rogelio never failed to keep in touch with all of his family and relatives, maintaining the strong bonds that were so important to him. His commitment to his faith and community never wavered, even in a new country.
Legacy
Rogelio's life was marked by love, faith, and service. His dedication to his family, his passion for teaching, and his unwavering commitment to his faith left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion.
Rogelio's story is one of a life well-lived, filled with meaningful contributions to his family, his students, and his community. His legacy continues through the many lives he touched, and he will be remembered with love and admiration by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
