Jerry Thomas Obituary

In Loving Memory of our Brother, Son, Father and Husband, Jerry.

It is with a heavy heart to share the passing of Jerry Richard Thomas. He was one of the kindest souls we've ever known, with a sense of humor that could light up any room. Even as he faced years of health challenges, he never stopped fighting, never stopped caring for everyone around him, and never lost his spirit.

In early April, Jerry was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer that had also spread to his brain. Despite the gravity of this news, he faced it with the same courage and resilience he had shown all his life. He remained focused on the people he loved most-his cherished family. His Mother, Joyce, brothers Billy and Vince, sister Belinda & Dawn Marie. His wife, Kelley, was his steadfast partner and best friend. He was so proud of his sons, Erik, Richard & Robert, his daughters, Jeri Marie, Amanda, Lindsay and his many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. His family was his heart and his greatest joy.

Jerry was also a man of passions and loyalties. He loved cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Boston Red Sox and was an avid NASCAR fan-no matter the season, you could count on him rooting for them with enthusiasm. His love for sports was matched only by his love for sharing good times, good stories, and good laughs.

After joining the Navy at a young age, Jerry left home and embraced the adventure of seeing the world. His service took him to places like Hawaii and Alaska, and he found his love there. They started a family.

Jerry's journey took him and his family from Punxsutawney to Colorado before they eventually settled for many years in Bennington, Vermont. In 2021, he and Kelley made the move to Mountain Home, Idaho, to be close to their grandbabies-a testament to how much family always came first in his heart.

Those who knew Jerry will remember his quick wit and the way he could bring a smile to anyone's face. He taught us all what it means to persevere, to cherish each day, and to love with everything you have.

Though he is no longer here with us in person, Jerry's spirit will continue to shine brightly through his family, his friends, and all the lives he touched. We will miss his laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering strength. But we take comfort in knowing that his memory will live on in the stories we share, the traditions we keep, and the love he inspired.
