Bettye Wright Obituary

Bettye Rene' Sawls Wright, age 97 of Fairfield, passed away on July 06, 2022 in Calera, Alabama. Bettye Wright was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Tom and Lola Sawls on April 26, 1925. She attended and graduated Fairfield High School. She later met and married Harry Dewsberry Wright. She worked as a bookeeper for Lloyd Noland Hospital. She was the widow of a retired Air Force Colonel. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Lola Sawls, her husband Harry Wright, her siblings Carl Sawls, Carlene White, Sudie Sawls, Lola Smart and Patsy Gilley. Bettye is survived by her sons, Harry D. Wright II(Totsy), H. Dwayne Wright(Kim); Grandchildren Harry D. Wright III, Robert J. Wright, Austin B. Wright, Shelby V. Wright and Rebekah(Becky) Wright; Great Grandchidren Harry D Wright IV and Liam Wright. One sister, Joanne Hopkins; nieces Susan, Katrina, Gayle and Pam; One nephew Charlie and a host of others who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank New Beacon Hospice for their services, Nurse Miguel Ferguson for all of his exceptional care. The family would like to also thank Tonya Harrison, Elizabeth Rickey, Rheannon Spain for all their care given and time spent taking care of Bettye. The family would like to give our gratitude to Adrian Bailey who spent the most time with our precious Bet. Adrian was with Bet until the last day and we are forever grateful. Viewing will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 10:00 am until the 11am funeral hour at Valhalla Funeral Home 5317 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield, AL 35228. Burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery
