Carol Sawyer Obituary

Carol Ann Sawyer

April 29, 1950 – February 19, 2026.

Carol passed away peacefully, her husband at her side, after a courageous fight with cancer.

She was born in Osaka, Japan living her early life as an "Army Brat." After high school in NC she graduated from Colorado State University (72') with a BA in English Literature.

She married Richard T. (Dick) Sawyer in 1972 and for 53 years they shared a grand adventure together their lives given to science and education.

She had a career as a Contract Specialist with IBM and then in the Reservation Department at Vail Resorts.

Carol was a life-long reader and fan of mysteries, an avid knitter, skier, hiker, horsewoman and fisherwoman. She was a mindful person, kind to everyone she met, very intelligent and a comfort to her husband, family and all who knew and loved her.

Carol loved her family deeply and she is survived by her husband Dick his sister Tory Sawyer, her mother Mary Alice Burton, and sister Judith Burton all of Broomfield, CO; her sister Leslie Burton, of Colorado Springs, CO and her sister Hu Meei Tu of Florida.

Her memorial service will be private to the family. Carol was a remarkable human being with a smile for everyone and she asked that you keep her in your heart.

Let her memory be a blessing to your life.
