Carrol Lee McCallister of Golden, Colorado passed away peacefully in her home on June 12, 2025 at the age of 91. Carrol was born to Harry and Dorothy Allen in St. Joseph Missouri on May 16, 1934. She was the eldest of four daughters, Marilyn Elder (deceased), Diana Bartlow (deceased) and Anita Lyon.
Carrol survived by her sons Tom McCallister and Kevin McCallister (Pam McCallister), numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends, all of whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband: Lee John McCallister Jr., Parents: Harry and Dorothy Allen, Sons: Dave and Sean McCallister, and Daughter in Law: Dianne McCallister (married to Tom).
Carrol grew up in St. Joseph, Missouri where she met and married Lee John McCallister Jr. Carrol and Lee spent time in Liberty then to Kansas City, Missouri raising their 4 boys. In 1973, they moved to Golden, Colorado, where they continued raising their family. Carrol spent most of her time as a homemaker but also worked as an office assistant at numerous companies throughout her career.
Carrol was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She was often found in the garden, growing a variety of flowers, herbs and vegetables she shared with her loved ones and her church community. Her family and friends brought her great joy and she loved being surrounded by loved ones, sharing stories and laughing together. Carrol had a passion for travel, making trips all around the world including to Africa, Israel and England. In addition, she always looked forward to joining her church group on the annual bus trips across the United States in her later years. She frequently told stories of her travel adventures, sharing the wonder of the world she experienced.
Carrol will be buried in the Golden Cemetery next to Lee, Sean and Dave. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Carrol’s name.
