Catherine "Katie" O'Brien Fisher of Denver, Colorado passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the age of 70.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Steven Fisher; son Matthew (Marisa) and daughter Bridget (Nairn), and grandchildren Riley, Madelyn, and Llewyn; brothers Thomas (Connie) and David (Kelley), and sisters Ann (Bryan Willis) and Amy (Chris Corr). She is preceded in death by her brother Barry O'Brien (Jan Toyota).
Born on December 11, 1951, Katie was the oldest child to Aileen and Thomas O'Brien. She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio with her 5 siblings. After graduating from Ursuline College in 1973, she married Steve on May 19, 1973. Steve and Katie moved to Denver in 1977 where they settled by University of Denver's campus. Katie worked at Taylor Library at the Iliff School of Theology for 40 years until she retired in 2017.
Katie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. In addition to her devotion to her granddaughters, she was passionate about local politics and community activism. She and Steve were frequently found on the DU campus, attending a wide array of sports, concerts, and events.
Celebration of Life to be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 1pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 South Colorado Boulevard, Denver, Colorado 80246.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Ira J. Taylor Library at the Iliff School of Theology.

We grew up across the street from the O'Brien family in Cleveland. Children from our two families used to play together - a lot! Katy the eldest, would babysit for my parents on occasion. I recall her putting us to bed in the summer (at my mom's request) before it was dark, and all the other kids were still outside playing. I think we got back at her later on, the next time she took care of us and tied her up! We Spurney and O'Brien kids have many a fond memory playing together in the old NE Ohio neighborhood. I haven't seen Katy in many years (sadly it was at her mom's funeral) but the news strikes me hard, just as it did in 2009 to learn about the passing of her younger brother Barry. - closer to me in age. I send my condolences to the O'Brien and Fisher families for your untimely loss.
