FUNERAL HOME

Cheryl Petrie Obituary

In loving memory of Cheryl Lee Petrie, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch of the Petrie family, went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2025 at the age of 81.

Born on January 16, 1944, she lived a life strong in her eternal faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and firm devotion to her family and friends. She was born in Maywood California, the daughter of Lewis and Myrtle Atkinson.

Cheryl had six children, eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She loved her family fiercely and provided a safe and steady place for everyone who knew her. Cheryl was known for her ability to be resilient, loving, and always quick witted. She was a lover of all animals, particularly dogs, whom she took every opportunity to spoil! Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by Cheryl.

Cheryl is survived by her beloved children, James Petrie, Scott Petrie (Diana), Chad Petrie (Carol), Jeremy Petrie (Karen), and Lacie McCreary (Sean); Granchildren, Jimmy, Austin, Ashley, Garrett, Chance, Sydney and Summer; as well as five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Brent Atkinson (the late Marcia) and Kurt Atkinson (Diane). Preceded in death by her daughter Lisa Petrie, granddaughter Nicole Petrie, sister Joyce Brown, and her loving parents Lewis and Myrtle. She leaves behind a family who will love and miss her dearly.

A funeral for Cheryl will be held at 12Noon on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, CO 80014.
