Christine Anne Altman, 64, passed away on Friday, May 30th in Denver, CO. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on August 10, 1960 to James A. Flora and Irene (Olszewski) Flora, the 5th of 5 children. Christine spent her earliest years in North Tonawanda, NY before relocating with her family to Quakertown, PA in 1966. She went to elementary school at St. Isadore’s Catholic School and attended Quakertown Community Senior High School, graduating in 1978. Chris attended Gwynedd Mercy University (Gwynedd Valley, PA) and she received an Associate of Science (AS) degree in the medical records field. She pursued a career in medical records coding (ICD-9) and billing at several medical institutions in southeastern Pennsylvania and Colorado. She participated in the roll out and conversion of many medical billing processes from a largely labor and paper intensive, disconnected medical records to the HIPPA regulated systems in place today.
While her health has been declining for the past several years, Christine was known for her infectious laugh. She previously enjoyed Colorado-based outdoor activities with her daughter such as skiing and whitewater rafting. She also attended frequent music concerts with a special love for those held at the Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater. She was also a devoted daughter providing much love and care for her parents during their later years, after their relocation to Colorado in the early 1990s.
Chris is survived by her daughter Shannon (Brian) Zohn and grandsons Jackson and Landon of Littleton, CO; four siblings Mark (Sally Stevens) Flora of Waupaca, WI, Bruce (Dena) Flora of Williamsburg, VA, David (Irene) Flora of Mundelein, IL, and Elizabeth Flora of Denver, CO; as well as by five nieces scattered around the country and her very good friend, Betty, who was always available when she was needed.
The family would like to thank the staff of Forest Street Compassionate Care who worked to keep her comfortable during her period of declining health. No funeral is planned at this time though a small family gathering honoring her memory will be planned for later this summer. Interment will be in Golden Cemetery.
