In Loving Memory of Dennis Francis Severson
Dennis Francis Severson, age 76, passed away on November 29, 2025, after a courageous journey with Parkinson's dementia. In his final months, when remaining at home was no longer possible, he was lovingly cared for at Crossroads Senior Living Memory Care. He left this world surrounded by the love of his family and the many memories he created throughout a full and generous life.
Dennis was born on June 9, 1949, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, alongside his fraternal twin brother, Dean. As a young man, he chose a path of service and enlisted in the United States Army,
serving from 1967 through 1970, including duty in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, Dennis pursued his education and graduated from Colorado State University in Pueblo.
He devoted 50 years of his professional life to Safeway, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike. His dedication, integrity, and steady presence made a lasting impact on everyone who worked with him.
Dennis met the love of his life, Vivian, at a wedding-fittingly, on the evening she caught the bouquet. Five months later, on January 20, 1984, they were married, beginning a life filled with partnership, humor, and adventure. Their joy grew when they welcomed their son, Christopher, on July 3, 1988.
Dennis had a passion for golf and cherished his involvement with the Littleton Elks, where he found camaraderie and community. He lived with enthusiasm, humor, and generosity-always making the most of each day until he no longer could.
One of his greatest joys came later in life when his son welcomed a daughter, Sophia Christina.
Though Sophia did not have the chance to meet her grandfather, she will grow up surrounded by stories of his kindness, warmth, and the love he carried for his family.
Dennis is deeply missed by his wife, Vivian; his son, Christopher; his granddaughter, Sophia; and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Services will be held on December 19, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80227.
Military honors will follow at 12:30 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area "White"
A reception and celebration of life will take place afterward at the Littleton Elks Lodge #1650, 5749 S Curtice St, Littleton, CO 80120
Dennis's life was one of service, dedication, and love-and his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.
Dennis is Preceded in death by his twin brother Dean, father in law Mac McCauley, mother Greta. and sister Sandra. Dennis is survived by his wife Vivian, son Chris, granddaughter Sophia, and many numerous nieces, and nephews.
Dennis wanted his farewell to be a celebration of the life he loved. He asked that everyone come dressed in bright, joyful colors. No funeral black. Vibrant Hues that made him smile.
