Edward Paul Geisler, loving husband, devoted father, Grampy, and beloved friend to all went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ after several health struggles on Monday, April 20th, 2026, at the age of 86 years.
He was born on August 8, 1939, in Leoti, KS to Rev. Walter and Ruth Geihsler, the second of four sons. Early years were spent in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM, and he attended UNM before transferring to Concordia Teacher’s College in Seward, NE where he met his wife, Gwen. He graduated in 1962 and took his first job in Colorado Springs, CO as a 6th grade teacher at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He and Gwen were married in 1963 and had three children in Colorado Springs. The family spent 2 years in Oregon where he was Director of Christian Education at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, before moving to Arvada where he began his career as a piano technician in the Denver metro area. They joined Peace Lutheran Church where he served as the Adult Choir Director for 25 years. They were active members in other churches before making Ascension Lutheran Church their home.
He was slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love, and kept no ledger of wrongs, just like his Savior. As a gifted servant of God, Ed glorified the Lord through the pursuit of many passions. His highest priority was the leadership of his family with quiet wisdom and attentiveness. With Christlike humility and love, evident to everyone who knew him, he enjoyed every piano-tuning client (even the ones who left a note saying their dog “might attack him”), every singer in the choir (especially those who brought treats for “goodie night”), and fellow building-and art-project enthusiast (usually including those who didn’t care about perfectly square corners). He did things the right way (with snacks and ice cream cones) and appreciated the rumble of a 409 V-8 engine in a Chevy as much as the satisfying sound of a well-hit nail in a building frame (“if you want to get those nails in twice as fast, hit them every time”). Arguably, music delighted him most; singing in a near-perfect tenor voice, directing the choir to reflect faithful lyrics through the beauty of music, and perhaps especially attending countless concerts in which his children and grandchildren performed.
Ed is survived by his wife, Gwen, three children: Dan/Roxane, Tim/Tinne, and Karyn/Ken Jarrell;10 grandchildren: Stephen, Benjamin, Charlie and William (Dan); Matthew and Josephine/Patrick Ross (Tim); Brienna/Taylor Martin, Dillon/Jessie and daughter Annie, Tanner/Keeley, and Lacey/Kyle Tillson (Karyn). Survivors also include Ed’s brothers, David/Sandra and Richard, and sister-in-law Donna. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert and sister-in-law Debby.
Memorial service on Sunday, April 26th, 2026, at 4:00pm MDT at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1701 Caley Ave., Littleton, CO 80120. Catered reception immediately following.
