Elizabeth Ann “Lisa” Mares-Abeyta, 72, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026.
Lisa was born on January 10, 1954, in Meade, Colorado, to Josephine A. and Jose G. Mares. She attended South High School and later pursued her passion for beauty by attending cosmetology school. Ultimately, she found her true calling in healthcare, building a rewarding career as a Sterile Processing Technician at St. Anthony’s Hospital, where she faithfully served until her retirement.
Lisa will be remembered for her loving heart, generous spirit, and the warmth she shared with everyone she met. Her home was always open, a gathering place filled with laughter, love, and the comfort of family. Above all, she cherished her children and grandchildren, whose lives were deeply enriched by her unwavering devotion and affection.
Lisa was preceded in death by her Father - Jose G Mares, Mother - Josephine A Mares, sister - Viola Cunningham, brother - Benito A. Mares, sister - Shirley Mares, and granddaughter Grace Avianne Diaz-DeLeon.
Lisa was survived by Donald Abeyta Sr, son Benjamin Mares Sr, son Donald Jr (Michelle) Abeyta , daughter Brandi (Ivan) Diaz-Deleon, grandson Zachariah (Kathy) Mares, granddaughter Andrianna Abeyta, grandson Benjamin Jr (Capri) Mares, grandson Damien Mares, grandson Andrew (Danika) Mares, granddaughter Anastasia (Rico) Abeyta, granddaughter Aalanii Diaz-DeLeon, grandson Carmine Diaz-DeLeon, great grandson Zachariah Mares Jr, great granddaughter Aubrianna Abeyta, great grandson Luciano Mares, great granddaughter Briella Mares, and great grandson Jadrian Abeyta.
Her legacy of kindness and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
