Elizabeth Mae Beach (Lauridsen)
Age 84, passed away January 12, 2026 due to complications from pneumonia.
Born in Dedham, Iowa, Betty loved her home state and felt an immediate affinity for fellow hawkeyes. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in education and taught in the elementary grades in the Twin Cities for several years. She later extended that training to early education and parent facilitation. In her retirement, she ran a women’s group in her senior community.
Betty was an educator, a facilitator, and a people person. She dearly loved her support group, a gathering of women who met as young mothers and shared over 50 years together, supporting each other through life’s ups and downs.
Her husband, J. Robert Beach, preceded her in death. They were married for 52 years, during which their enduring love became the cornerstone of their family.
She is survived by her children, David Beach and Cathy Boies, and seven grandchildren. She was a loving wife, a dedicated mother, and an organizing voice for community and connection wherever she lived.
Memorials preferred to Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church.
