Elizabeth Hayes Obituary

Loading

Elizabeth Elsie Frieda Kahler was born in Atkinson, Nebraska, to Henry and Elizabeth Kahler on June 11th, 1924. She was the 13th of 14 children. She had to leave school before graduation to help on the family farm but eventually received her GED. After moving to Lincoln, she met the love of her life, Edward "Bud" Hayes. She married Bud on June 10th, 1945. That led to a marriage of 71 years and a beautiful daughter, Elizabeth Christina. They then became grandparents to Stephanie Elizabeth and Scott Edward. When they retired, they moved from Omaha to beautiful Loveland, Colorado. Besides being a master homemaker, she enjoyed volunteering at First Congregational Church in Loveland for many years. She was an amazing gardener, baker, canner, and cook. Her love for family history led to a giant collection of genealogy.

Elizabeth is survived by grandson Scott Eades and his wife Theresa; granddaughter Stephanie; great-grandchildren Annmarie and Francis Eades; Cooper, Reilly, and Elle Quinn; and Elle's fiancé Ezekiel Kramer, and a great-great-granddaughter, Korbin Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Hayes, daughter Elizabeth C. Hayes in February of 1994, and all 13 of her siblings. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Bethesda Gardens and Bloom Hospice for their care of Elizabeth. A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 2nd, from 9-10 am, and the funeral service will follow at Viegut Funeral Home. Cremation will be completed, following with inurnment at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Ft Collins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Crossroads Safehouse.
