Garrett Maus Obituary

Garrett Criss Maus lost his long battle with depression on February 24th, 2026. He was 26 years old.

Garrett spent his entire life caring for those around him. He was kind, intelligent, patient, humble, and extremely loving. He spread joy and warmth to others every day of his life. His dry humor and sarcastic wit never failed to make his friends and family laugh.

For years, Garrett met once a week in-person or online with his long-term friend group to play games and spend time together. He always made an effort to spend time with his siblings, Ashleigh and Trevor, even when they lived in different states. He shared his favorite things with them and always wanted to hear about theirs.

Garrett loved doing escape rooms and clue rooms with his parents and siblings and always made sure that everyone felt included in solving the puzzles and enjoyed themselves. He was always compassionate and empathetic.

Garrett is survived by his parents, John and Susan Maus, his siblings Ashleigh Tchiloyans and Trevor Maus, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his sweet dog Emmy, who he helped to raise and train.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Albert Criss Maus and Irma Leora Maus, his maternal grandparents David Ivor Jones and Meridith Ann Jones, and his aunt Jane Jones and cousin Ryan Jones.

Garrett brightened the lives of all he met. A memorial service will be held at Our Father Lutheran Church (6335 S Holly St, Centennial, CO 80121) at 10am on April 11th, 2026. Friends and family are invited to share stories about Garrett after the memorial service, while enjoying some of Garrett's favorite snacks and drinks.

We would like to support the ongoing efforts of his therapist and friend Lisa Kramer through her work with the Hope Farms Project, where she supports others suffering from depression and suicidality. Donations in Garrett's name can be made to the Hope Farms Project at https://hopefarmsproject.org , You can also donate items (specifics listed on her website), or sponsor one of the animals, many of which Garrett worked with and loved.
