Georgia Swearingen Obituary

Georgia Mae Swearingen, 77, of Aurora, CO passed away on August 12, 2025 at The Denver Hospice.

Born July 8, 1948 to Paul and Genia Yeager in Rockford, IL. Graduated from Hononegah Community High School in 1966 and became a bookkeeper in Rockford, IL. Georgia married Laurance (Larry) Swearingen of Loves Park, IL on March 8, 1969 at the Shirland Methodist Church in Shirland, IL.

Georgia and Larry have two sons, Kevin and Brian, and lived in Shirland, IL until Larry's untimely passing in 1983. Georgia and her sons relocated to Central Florida in 1984 where she raised them as a single mother while taking classes at Seminole Community College in Sanford, FL. After completing her Associates in Arts degree, she transferred to the University of Central Florida to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering.

Both sons graduated high school in Lake Mary, FL, with Kevin serving in the United States Navy, while Brian followed her footsteps, attending both Seminole Community College and the University of Central Florida to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After going in separate directions in pursuit of careers and family, Georgia and Brian came back together in Denver, CO in 2003 and was joined by Kevin and his family in 2012.

Survivors include her sister Carol, sons Kevin and Brian Swearingen, daughter in law Jennifer Swearingen and grandson Cameron Swearingen. She was predeceased by her parents Paul and Genia Yeager, husband Larry and brother in law Roger Hughes. She asked that her ashes be scattered in a free and beautiful place, but she shares a headstone with Larry in Shirland Cemetery in Shirland, IL.
