Gerald was the second of John and Mary Flageolle's 15 children. He was born in his grandparents' home in Stratton, Colorado on January 22, 1933. His ninety-one-year journey included a rich diversity of people and places, but Gerald's heart belonged to his family and his faith.
Farm chores and odd jobs gave way to work on a large ranch before Gerald enlisted with the Air Force. This experience took him across the United States and eventually to Korea and Japan. Not long after his enlistment was completed, Gerald married and then settled in Denver, where he and his wife Laura raised their family – an adventure all its own! He spent nearly 40 years in the fencing business before retiring and focusing on his favorite hobby – work!
The Lord called Gerald home on November 13, 2024. He was predeceased by his wife, Laura, and leaves behind their six children — Ellen (Jim) Schreivogel, Vicki (Denis) Cure, Carl (Theresa) Flageolle, Jerry (Rae Ann) Flageolle, Renee (Chuck) Orwig, and Jenifer (Cris) Jones. He was blessed with 17 grandchildren — Chad, Nicole (Trainor) and Troy Schreivogel; Joshua, Kevin, Doug, Brad and Eric Cure; Seth, Briana (Marcello) and Garrett Flageolle; Tim, Ryan and Jeff Flageolle; Brian and Scott Orwig; and Halle (Dotson) Jones — and 25 great-grandchildren.
A Recitation of Rosary will be said in Gerald's honor at 6:00pm, Wednesday, November 20, at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 21 at 10:00am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 3920 Pierce St. Wheat Ridge with a reception immediately following at the Waterfront Event Center, 10 Lakeside Lane #3A, Lakeside, CO.
