Obituary of Harriet Kaufmann
Harriet ("Henny") Kaufmann was born on June 27, 1937, in Denver, Colorado. A proud fourth-generation Coloradan, she was raised on Denver's west side surrounded by a large and loving extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. In her teenage years, she moved to the Hilltop neighborhood. She attended Colfax Elementary, Lake and Gove Junior High Schools, East High School, and later the University of Colorado at Boulder.
On September 2, 1956, she married Donald Kaufmann z"l of Oak Park, Illinois.
Henny was a passionate community leader and dedicated volunteer. She served as Sisterhood President and later as President of Temple Emanuel in Denver. She also served on the board of JewishColorado and was Board Chair of Hillel of Colorado. In recognition of her contributions, she received the Golda Meir Award from JewishColorado. For ten years, she ran a catering business, Just Cooks, alongside close friends.
She loved to travel, and was an avid reader and symphony enthusiast. Henny cherished time spent with family and friends above all.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald z"l of 59 years; her parents, Royal Judd z"l and Min Judd z"l; her sister-in-law Kathy Judd z"l; and her brother-in-law Norton Freyer z"l.
Henny is survived by her children Steven Kaufmann (Lisa Mintz), Rob Kaufmann (Jen Gilbert-Kaufmann), and Leslie Sidell (Mark Sidell); her grandchildren Brandon Kaufmann (Yael Kaufmann), Marissa Kaufmann, Rachel Kaufmann, Alyssa Kaufmann, Leah Sidell, and Hannah Sidell; and her great-granddaughter Rose Kaufmann. She is also survived by her brother Arthur Judd, her sister-in-law Carol Freyer, and her nieces and nephews: Richard Judd (Dana Judd), Gina Judd, Jill Small (Scott Small), and Wendy Barrett (Fred Barrett); as well as many loving great-nieces and great-nephews.
Service at Temple Emanuel, Friday 6/6, 10am, with interment to follow at Emanuel Cemetery. Livestream will be available via Feldman Mortuary's YouTube Channel.
