With full hearts and deep sadness, we share that James Patrick Ronald — known to most as Jim — passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, surrounded by the people he loved most. Born on August 7, 1952, Jim lived a life defined by connection, kindness, and the remarkable ability to make anyone feel like an old friend.
Jim had a way of running into someone he knew everywhere he went — airports, sporting events, grocery store aisles — and if he didn’t know you when he walked in, chances were he’d know you by the time he left. Whether swapping stories on a chairlift or chatting with a stranger on the walking trails, Jim made the world feel just a little smaller and a lot more welcoming.
A proud California native with the heart of a true Colorado enthusiast, Jim made his home in cities across the country, but his soul was happiest outdoors. Whether carving turns on the slopes of Mary Jane, camping under the stars at Mount Princeton, or soaking up the sun on family trips to Jamaica and Maui, Jim embraced every moment like it was his best day yet.
He was a constant in the lives of his family — cheering from the sidelines, lending a steady hand, offering quiet wisdom. His presence was grounding, his support unwavering, and his love unconditional.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Kim; his children, Matt (Lachelle), Chris (Dani), and Megan (Mitch); his beloved mother Pat; sisters Ginger and Trish (Phil); and his adored grandchildren Micah, Peyton, Rylan, Ella, Beau, and Charlotte. He is also remembered with love by countless nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, and all those lucky enough to cross his path — and then be welcomed into his world.
Though our hearts ache, we find peace knowing that Jim’s spirit lives on in every shared smile, every easy conversation between strangers, and every beautiful turn made down a snowy slope.
A memorial service honoring Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, October 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Francis Chapel at Regis University, 52nd and Lowell Boulevard. A light lunch and reception will follow at Regis.
