James E. Sanders, 91, of Denver, passed away November 26th 2025.
Jim was born April 13th 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Lawrence and Helen (Sanford) Sanders.
After graduating from high school Jim enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served in Korea. Upon returning home to Villa Park IL he worked in sales and became “A Good Humor Man” and was a favorite of the neighborhood children who often said you knew it was summer when you saw Jim.
As his lifetime career Jim worked for Prudential Insurance until his retirement.
In the mid 1960’s he transferred from Illinois to Denver CO where he met Coleta Stamison of Aurora CO. On October 6, 1972, Jim married Coleta and together they enjoyed traveling in their motor home and visited all 48 mainland states plus Alaska! They also had several trips abroad, including Israel, Greece, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Jim was a Civil War buff and enjoyed monthly round table meetings and visited many of the famous battlefields.
Jim also enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and golfing and especially enjoyed weekly coffee and breakfast meetings with his buddies.
Jim was a longtime member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan Colorado. Jim is survived by his children, Karen L. Sanders and Patrick D. (Shelley) Sanders; two grandchildren, April Sanders and Emily Sanders and one great grandson; two step grandchildren, Nicoletta Stamison and John Wade "J.W." (Jennifer) Stamison, six great step grandchildren, and nephew Glenn (Cheryl) Filitti. He was preceded in death by his wife Coleta Sanders, of 42 years; his parents, son Larry Sanders, step-sons John and George Stamison, his brother Daniel Sanders, sister Laurel “Lollie” Wagner, and brother Robert Sanders.
