One day, she met a young man who made every effort to 'play it cool' by pretending to read a book... upside down. Little did she know, he would be her husband of 35 years, Robert Moser Patterson. Together, they welcomed four wonderful boys: Robert Bradley, Brian Joe, Barry Lynn, and Brett Allen.
Robert and Joan were always involved in their community and church, volunteering wherever there was a need. She spent her time playing the piano, singing hymns, sewing custom costumes for Westernaires, caring for their horses, and being a pillar of support for her family and friends.
As she became a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, her world expanded to include cooking lessons, sporting events, traveling, and being a guardian angel to generations of rambunctious grandchildren. Somehow, she still found time to earn her CNA certification, caring for those in need while she suffered her own losses. Strong, positive, and compassionate, she often said, "You can't feel sorry for yourself when you're taking care of someone who has it worse".
On January 21, 2026, she peacefully returned home to the Lord. She leaves behind her sister, Juanita "Tootie" Facklam; her son, Brett; her daughter-in-law, Karen; and a slew of grandchildren who will miss the loving twinkle in her eyes. She joins her parents, Joseph and Marie; her siblings, Carol, Mike, and Cheri; her husband, 'Bob'; her three boys, 'Brad', Brian, and Barry; and many good friends.
Rest easy until we meet again - we love you, Gram!"
