In Loving Memory of
Joseph Elmo Kirby November 4, 1944 – October 21, 2025
Jean Carolyn Kirby September 30, 1945 – December 28, 2025
Joseph and Jean Kirby — lifelong residents of Colorado — shared a beautiful life defined by love, service, faith, family, and community. Though Joe and Jean were each remarkable in their own way, together they created something even greater: a home filled with warmth, generosity, laughter, and belonging.
Joe was born in Casper, Wyoming, and was known for his voracious love of reading, his deep appreciation for nature, bike riding, his passion for winemaking and a love for all things Halloween. He delighted in learning, watching the stars, and sharing the simple joys of life with those he loved. He was a devoted husband, an extraordinary father and grandfather, and a gentle, humorous, steady presence to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Jean was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and lived a life rooted in service and compassion. A nurse and caregiver by profession and by heart, she spent decades caring for others in hospitals, churches, schools, PTO meetings, and, most lovingly, in her own kitchen. Her chocolate chip cookies were legendary — a sweet symbol of her love, hospitality, and constant desire to make everyone feel cared for.
They were deeply devoted to their community, cherished their friendships, and found great joy traveling together — especially to their favorite place, Cabo, where sunsets, laughter, and togetherness filled their happiest days.
Joe and Jean are survived by their daughters, Briney Beck of Littleton, Colorado, and Katie Berry (spouse Jon Berry) of Aurora, Colorado; and by their beloved grandchildren Maya Gunshore, Dominic Gunshore, Brenna Gunshore, Sadie Gunshore, Emma Berry, and Jack Berry — the living legacy of their love.
Their lives were a testament to kindness, service, faith, curiosity, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family. The values they lived by continue in the hearts of their children and grandchildren, and in every life they touched.
Though they have now left this world, the love they built together will never leave those who knew them.
