Kathy Harshfield Obituary

Kathy Harshfield passed away Saturday, January 31st, 2026, at the Pathways Hospice Care Center, where she was cared for by a compassionate staff and was surrounded by family.

Kathy was born March 3, 1949, in Superior, Nebraska to Charles Harshfield and Colleen Meguire Harshfield. She spent her early years in Nebraska and Colorado. She graduated from Sterling High School in Sterling, Colorado in 1967. Kathy then attended Northeastern Junior College and graduated from the practical nursing program in 1968 and remained in the nursing profession from 1969 to 1983.

After leaving nursing, she became Kitchen Manager and Assistant Chef to Roberta Deen in their catering company, Capers Catering, in Los Angeles, California for many years. She was also a talented wood worker, a jack of all trades, and was not afraid to tackle any project needed at home, whether it was her's, a family's, or a friends.

She will be most remembered for taking care of her brother, Edward, her mother, her father, and her dear friend Celie. Family and friends were a great source of happiness for Kathy. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds.

Kathy is survived by her sisters: Chris (Bill), Carol, and Jean (Reese); Nephews: Steven (Nicole), Jeremy, Kyle (Noah), niece Emily, and great-niece Caitlynn. She is also survived by close friends that were considered family, Mary Cecelia and Spud Tharp, and their children, Celie and Libbie.
