Margaret Jean Cromer, 90, passed away the morning of December 25, 2025 at the Stoneridge Generations Memory Care located in Loveland, Colorado.
She was born on March 7, 1935 in Everly, lowa to Kenneth and Charlotte (Seitzinger) Burger. Margaret was the third child of four daughters (Barbara (Harms), Virginia (Norman), Margaret, and Marlene (Wilharm).
Margaret met the love of her life, Jerald Alexander Cromer from Caruthersville, Missouri, in the neighboring town to Everly called Spencer, lowa. Jerald was an Air Force recruiter in Spencer. They married on June 16, 1957 at the Hope Lutheran Church in Spencer and remained married for 56 years until Jerald's passing in 2013. As a military family they lived in many locations, such as San Antonio, TX, Topeka, KS, Naples, Italy, and Colorado Springs, CO. Margaret and Jerry also lived in Garden City, KS, Pensacola, FL, and Pheasant Hill, MO.
Margaret's passion was her faith and creating a loving home for her family. She was dedicated to being a homemaker and at times worked part time as a school district secretary, church secretary, church pianist, and as a Waldenbook's store manager. Margaret also enjoyed reading novels, needlepoint, playing the piano, singing, oil and watercolor painting, collecting antiques, and RV camping while traveling across Europe and the United States. Margaret had a kind, giving, and gentle personality which supported many life-long friendships.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Charlotte, her sisters Barbara, Virginia, and Marlene, and her husband Jerald Cromer. Margaret is survived by her two sons; David Karl Cromer in Loveland, Colorado and Gregory Dean Cromer in Centennial, Colorado. Margaret was blessed with four grandchildren. Joshua and Jacob, sons of David and Michelle Cromer; and Emily and Sarah, daughters of Gregory and Kaylene Cromer. Margaret also was blessed with four great-grandchildren; Jack, Emily, Theodore, and Thomas from the Joshua and Betsy Cromer family.
Funeral services will be held on January 18, 2026 at 3:00pm at the Horan & McConaty Funeral Home located at 5303 E County Line Rd, Centennial, CO. The religious service will be led by Pastor Mark Nierman of the Mount Olive Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Loveland, CO. Margaret will be laid to rest with her husband Jerald at the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given in Margaret's name to the Mount Olive Lutheran Church located at 3411 S Taft Ave, Loveland, CO 80537.
