Marie Seward Obituary

Marie Adele Seward, known to all as Adele, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born on June 2, 1931, and lived a long life marked by devotion to family, quiet strength, and enduring love. 

Adele was the daughter of John George Goedert (1875–1961) and Ruth Olive (Mills) (Porter) Goedert (1892–1966). She grew up on her family’s farm in Arvada, Colorado, where she learned the values of hard work, faith, and family that guided her throughout her life. She shared her childhood and early years with a large blended family, including her half-siblings: Raymond Everett Goedert (1900–1985), Warren Edward Goedert (1904 2000), Mary Elizabeth Porter (1920–2004), Robert Mills Porter (1914–1972), and Doris Merle Porter (1918–1971); and her full siblings, Joseph Mills Goedert (1929–2024) and Albert Mills Goedert (1932–2017). 

On October 8, 1952, Adele married the love of her life, Delmar Lee Seward (1930–1999). After their marriage, they moved to Lindon, Colorado, where they farmed and built a life together while also owning and operating the Meadowlark Cafe, a café, motel and campground that became a gathering place for the community. 

Following Delmar’s passing in 1999, Adele retired and later moved to Mesa, Arizona, where she made her home with her daughter, April. 

Adele was a devoted mother to her four children: 
-Wyatt Wade Seward (Shelly Cochran), and granddaughter Willow Seward Brown (Warren Brown) 
-Mark Starr Seward, and grandchildren Roland Jodel Young (great-grandchildren Savannah Young and Brayden Young), Amber Seward (deceased 2022), and Matthew Seward (great grandchildren Chloe Seward and Matthew Seward Jr.) 
-Ember Seward Sorensen (married to the late Dennis Sorensen, 2024), and grandson Tyrel Sorensen (Lacey Sharp) and great-granddaughter Zaaley Sharp 
-April Seward 

Adele found great joy in her church, her friends, and time spent at social gatherings and game nights, and she also loved writing stories, a pastime that reflected her imagination and gentle spirit. She was known for her warm smile, gentle nature, and welcoming spirit. An avid gardener with a true green thumb, she lovingly tended a beautiful abundance of flowers and plants, finding peace and happiness in watching them grow. 

Family was the center of Adele’s life. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured with love, patience, and grace. Adele will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her steady presence, and the deep love she held for those closest to her. She now reunites in peace with her beloved husband Delmar, her granddaughter Amber, her son-in-law Dennis, and the many family members who went before her. 

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
