Marilyn Anderson Obituary

Marilyn B. Anderson, born November 24, 1939, in Omaha, Nebraska, passed away in Denver, Colorado, on February 3, 2026, after a brief illness.

Raised in Nebraska and Illinois, she graduated from Swarthmore College with a degree in psychology and then earned her master's degree in psychology from the University of Chicago. In 1969, she settled in Denver, Colorado, which became her home.

Marilyn built a distinguished career as a clinical psychologist, working as a private marriage and family therapist, and as a school psychologist for Cherry Creek School District.

She loved to travel. She lived in Germany for four years in the 1960's, and in later years, her journeys took her to Mexico, Japan, China, Alaska, and Europe. Closer to home, she cherished the Colorado mountains and fall colors, and she took annual trips to Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico. She found renewal in the outdoors and gardened daily. She loved local theater, the Denver Symphony Orchestra, and vocal music. She was an avid reader of many genres and was a member of her women's bookclub for over thirty years.

Marilyn was a spiritual person and a devoted friend to many. Those who knew her will remember her kindness, intellect, and acceptance of others. She shared especially close friendships with Denver locals Sky Redwood and Marijane Sharpe, who were her loyal companions and supporters.

Marilyn was a loving grandmother who took joy in her grandchildren's lives and activities. She never missed attending a tennis match or a soccer game and was a consistent, loving presence in their lives.

She is survived by her daughters, Claudia Anderson (Kevin Rohnstock) and her grandchildren William, Isabelle, and Lilah; and Renate Anderson (Steven Newman) and her grandchildren Brock, Julia, and Wyatt.

Memorial details will be determined at a later date.
