Mary Chavez Obituary

Mary passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025 surrounded by family. She is survived by 5 children, Rick Chavez, Greg (Janie) Chavez, Joel (Janey) Chavez, Jackee (Matthew) Lobato, and Julie (Neale) Smith. In addition, she is survived by 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her son, Jody Chavez, parents, Ramon and Reynelda Trujillo, 10 brothers and sisters, Casemira, Adan, Eva, Gertrude, Fedelina, Luciano, Encarnacion, Modesto, Onesimo and Andres.

Mary was raised in Capulin Colorado, after graduating in 1952, she married and moved to Denver where she raised a family of 6. She worked until the age of 70 when she retired from Denver Public Schools.

Mary was a faithful servant of God, a beautiful loving mother and grandmother who possessed a great love of her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. She touched all who knew her by her examples of love of family, faith, hard work, generosity and suffering with humility. She will be greatly missed by her beloved family, friends and those who cared for her at the end of life.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of All Saints, 2559 S. Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80219. A reception will be held at the church hall following the service.
