Mary Lou DeLeo Matz Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Lou Angelina DeLeo Matz, age 91, on September 5, 2025. Mary Lou was born on December 5, 1933,in Denver, Colorado.

Mary Lou is survived by her beloved daughter, Trestina Deanna Matz Tyson, son-in-law Troy Tyson, and her cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Dane, and Tyler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Della Clara Malara DeLeo and Emil Michael DeLeo, her husband, Fiore Florine Matz Jr. and her infant daughter Sarita Marie Matz.

Throughout her long and joyful life, Mary Lou created a legacy of love, laughter, and warmth. She was a pillar of strength and a source of comfort to those around her. Known for her radiant kindness and funny stories, Mary Lou made her home a sanctuary where countless memories were made with family and friends .

Mary Lou’s deep devotion to her family was matched only her love for her faith. A lifelong Catholic, she was particularly devoted to the Blessed Mother and cherished her church community. Her home was a gathering place for many, where she joyfully hosted parties and celebrations with an open heart. Her spirit of hospitality and joy will be remembered by all who knew her.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she lived independently and joyfully until the very end- a true testament to her inner strength and unbreakable spirit.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 6 PM at Horan McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood. Funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 10 AM at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 10675 Jaguar Dr., Lone Tree. The burial will take place at 2 PM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
