Maxwell "Max" Wekesser

Maxwell McKean Wekesser was born in Marion, Indiana. He grew up in Littleton, where he graduated from Heritage High School. He wrestled in middle and high school. An avid outdoorsman, Max loved to fish and hunt. One of his favorite pastimes was being with friends on a ranch in Wyoming, hunting deer and antelope. Max also spent many summers as a camper and on staff at Deerfoot Lodge, a Christian wilderness camp in upstate New York.
From a very young age, Max instinctively put others before himself and constantly looked for ways to help others. This led him to a career as a first responder. Max started as an EMT and then became a paramedic, serving those in need in the north Denver metro area. In 2020, he was recognized as Paramedic of the Year in his district.
Max was incredibly important to so many people. He and his fiancé, Michael, were building a life together, which included two adorable dogs, Xena and Gabby. He was the protective big brother to Emma, and although they were five years apart in age, they shared a very close bond. His parents, Josh and Rebecca, were so proud of the man he had become and of his strength of character. Max was fortunate to have close relationships with his four grandparents, sharing in special experiences together throughout the years. Although spread across the country, he looked for opportunities to spend time with aunts, uncles and cousins. Max was a very loyal friend, who would drop everything to help in time of need, along with building fun memories together. He was dedicated to his colleagues, looking to make a stressful work environment enjoyable whenever possible.
Max's life will be celebrated on June 13 at 2pm at Waterstone Church in Littleton. Donations in his honor may be made at foundation1023.org.

Max, I only met you once but you were someone my little sister was able to rely on and call a friend. As is in your nature, you had her back and helped her move when she didn’t have anyone else. Although it doesn’t make sense to anyone now, you found your peace and now you can watch and protect over everyone in a way you weren’t able to before. You are now able to see things and hear those cries for help even if no one is screaming. I haven’t attended a memorial since my sons on 12/27/19, I am sad to see your family have to go through this but if I can offer any words of comfort, it’s some people are to good for this world, some are meant to protect us as angels. Max’s family, Please stay as strong as if he was here, the road will be dark and it will be hard but please remember the ones you have left and always remember Max is right next to you always.

I met Max about 8 years ago while working at Texas Roadhouse. We became friends there and when I left we kept in touch and met up and danced at the Grizzly Rose. I’ll never be able to step into the Rose again without instantly thinking of Max and missing him like crazy. I wish I would have stayed in touch more. Max you are one of the best guys I’ve ever met I miss you and will always keep you in my heart.
