Mona F. Barsotti, beloved mother and grandmother, died peacefully on July 7, 2025 at the age of 92.
She was born in Du Quoin, IL and raised in Macomb. As a gifted pianist and flautist, she graduated valedictorian of her high school class. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Music Education from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, IA, where she earned membership into the music honor society, Pi Kappa Lambda.
Looking for adventure, she accepted a music teaching position at the Lowell Elementary School in Colorado Springs, CO. It was there that a fellow teacher introduced her to her future husband, David G. Barsotti. Happily married for 64 years, they had two daughters and raised their family in Denver, CO.
Mona was passionate about sharing her music abilities and giving back to the community. Serving in various leadership positions, she was on the founding Board and President of DYAO, the Denver Young Artists Orchestra, and supported the organization for over 35 years. She served as President of the Board at the University of Denver Lamont School of Music, and was President of her Denver P.E.O. Chapter. She also taught piano lessons; performed piano duets locally for 50 years; and sang in the Wellshire Presbyterian Church choir for 37 years.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband David and her brother J. Robert Fry. She is survived by her daughters Melanie Barsotti and Janene McCann (Michael); grandchildren Haley Leyendecker (Christopher) and Marshall McCann (Alexandra); and nieces Patricia Barsotti and Priscilla Stachel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornell College, Mount Vernon, IA.
