Patrick Fitzgibbons, 76, passed away on September 25, 2024, at home with his wife of 36 years, Jo Anne, by his side. He was born September 8, 1948, the 4th of 8 children, to Clifford and Vivian Fitzgibbons of Denver. He was raised in the Baker neighborhood and graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School in 1966. Pat was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.
After his discharge from the service, Pat returned to Denver and in 1970 joined the Denver Police Department. Most of his 35 years with the department were spent as a detective in the Vice and Narcotics Bureau where he was known by his fellow officers as "Jughead". He was also assigned for a period of time to the DEA Drug Task Force.
Pat enjoyed working as an off-duty officer for many years at Denver Broncos games, Colorado Rockies games, and annually at the stock show. He also provided security at Red Rocks and many other concert and entertainment venues in Denver. After his retirement in 2005, Pat continued to provide security for KM Concessions at the Stock Show and the many other events held at the National Western Complex. He also enjoyed working for the Stadium Club at Mile High Stadium and Invesco Field.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Cliff, Leonard, Gary, Dan and Tony, and his sister Maureen. He is survived by his wife Jo Anne, stepson Jeff Heffner (Jean), children Robert, Julio, Erin and Patrick, and his sister Gail (John) LaCourse. He is also survived by many other close relatives and friends.
Funeral service will take place Friday, October 4th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty funeral home located at 7577 W. 80th Avenue in Arvada. A reception will follow at the same location. Burial services will take place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
