Richard "Dick" Lotz, beloved husband, father, step-father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2025 at the age of 91.
Richard was born in Tacoma, Washington. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957. While stationed in Denver, he met his first wife, Gloria, at a dance club. He and Gloria were happily married for 45 years, raising both a son and a daughter. He studied cabinetry before his time in the Army and returned to it after his discharge. Richard excelled at woodworking for the entire length of his career, retiring in 1995. His love of carpentry allowed him to indulge in his love of tools, building many things for his family. During family vacations, one of their favorite places to visit was Glenwood Hot Springs, where they could all enjoy both the hot springs and fishing.
After Gloria's death in 2002, friends introduced him to Joan, where he found love again and remarried. They were happily married for 20 years. They enjoyed traveling, cruising, fishing, and time spent in the mountains. Richard and Joan also enjoyed their family, which was multiplied with the addition of children and grandchildren from their then-blended family. Sadly, Joan passed away in August 2024.
Some of Richard's most memorable moments were while he was spending time with family, fishing, creating things, woodworking, and collecting items like guns and tools. He had a wonderful sense of humor, cracking jokes regularly. He enjoyed eating out (especially steak!) and loved sweets (cookies and ice cream) and any kind of dessert you could name!
Richard is survived by his children Frank and Kathy; grandson Ian. He is also survived by many step-children and step-grandchildren.
