Richard “Rick” Geesen, age 64, died at home in Aurora, Colorado on October 2, 2025. Rick was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver. He attended Thornton High School and joined the Marine Corps after graduation. Rick met his wife, Marisa Williams, in high school. The pair moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1981 and married there in 1985. While in Philadelphia, Rick taught himself how to write computer software. The couple returned to Colorado and Rick went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Software Engineering from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Rick loved his career. He worked in new and exciting areas of software development, focusing primarily on the telecommunications industry. He especially enjoyed working in a start-up environment and joined several different software development companies in the Denver area before he retired in 2019.
Rick was an avid golfer and gamer. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching golf, hockey and football. He is survived by his wife, Marisa and their sons, Joseph of Parker, CO and Andrew of Aurora, CO. He is also survived by his mother, Elinor Geesen, several siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard and his brother, Ray.
A celebration of Rick Geesen’s life will take place at Horan & McConaty in Centennial, CO on Friday, October 24 from 3-5 p.m. Please join Rick’s family and share your stories of remembrance. Those wishing to honor his life are invited to make a donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation or the Parkinson’s Association of the Rockies.
