Send FlowersRobert E. Gomez, aged 54, died in his home in Denver on April 14, 2026 after courageously fighting cancer for three years. He is survived by his husband, Dennis, his mother and stepfather, Maxine and Ronald, his father and stepmother, Gary and Patty, his siblings, Gregory, Cherelle, Michelle, Darrin, Ronnee, Camiece and Gary Lee, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews whom he adored. Robert cherished family and friends, and enjoyed game nights, holiday gatherings and traveling with them.
For over 20 years Robert worked in the special education field at Laradon Hall and Holly Hills Elementary, after earning a Master’s degree in Education. Robert was passionate about teaching and loved working with students to reach their full potential. He brought his love of games, comic books and mythology to the classroom as well. Robert always recognized everyone’s uniqueness and their ability to succeed on their own terms and at their own pace. In his free time Robert enjoyed watching movies and tv, and was an ardent supporter of the Colorado Ballet. He was an excellent cook who always loved trying new recipes and collecting cookbooks. Above all, Robert was a wonderful, kind-hearted man. To know him was to love him.
A celebration to honor the life of Robert will be held at Horan and McConaty on Friday, May 29 at 1:00 p.m. Mountain Time. A small reception will follow at Dennis and Robert’s house at 3 p.m.
For those unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available. Please check back here for the link to access the stream.
