Robert Jess Hicks was born in 1948 and died in June of 2025. Parented by Robert Lee Hicks and Mary Hightower Hicks, Bobby was the oldest of 3 kids, Bob, Kathy, and Danny. The family moved to Northglenn, Colorado in Bobby’s elementary years. Here, Bobby developed a love for sports and became a multi sport athlete at Thornton High School. After high school graduation, Bobby went to Trinidad Jr. College where he continued his education and athletic prowess.
After completion of an associate degree, the U.S. Army drafted Bobby. While in the army, he ran a drug crisis center in Kaiserslautern Germany for Vietnam War vets returning to the United States.
In 1972, Bobby married a fellow Thornton High School graduate, Judy Wacker. Married 52 years, their greatest achievement was raising two incredible children, Robert (Bobby) E and Cody Marie. These years were spent coaching and experiencing countless enjoyable hours with the kids. They have both grown up to be outstanding people, parents, and partners. Also, during this time, Bob worked various truck driving jobs and/or worked with freight companies.
Bob’s grandchildren, Jason(18), Bella(16), Kayla(11), Gunner(9), and Ruby(7) are his greatest treasures. Bob and Judy were actively involved in the joys of nurturing their positive growth and development and always attended sports activities and anything else that these grandkids were involved in. He couldn’t have been prouder of all of them.
Bobby is survived by wife, Judy, son Bobby (daughter Kayla) and daughter Cody Tiner and son-in-law Jason and their children: Jason, Bella, Gunner, and Ruby. Preceding him in death are his parents and sister Kathy and brother Danny.
