Ronald Carlson Obituary

Ron, age 80, passed away in Aurora, Colorado on October 2, 2025. He was born in Marquette, Kansas and graduated from Marquette High School in 1963. He attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, where he met his future wife. Shortly after graduation, he began his Air Force career and returned to marry Sharon Benson July 6, 1968 in Hordville, Nebraska.

His 22 year career as an Air Force Officer took the family to Texas, Minnesota, Iceland, Colorado, Korea, Florida, Colorado and British Columbia. He retired as a Lt. Col. at Lowry AFB in Denver. As a civilian, he soon started following his passion for tools and helping people at Ace Hardware for over 20 years.

His greatest joy was the role of a loving girl dad and grandfather to his five grandchildren and one great grandson.

Ron is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon Carlson, his daughters Jill Carlson (Tim), Sara Lipnick (Mike) and Lori Jordan (Matt); his grandchildren Taylor Robinson (Tyrell), Haven Lipnick, Norah Lipnick, Sydney Jordan and Myles Jordan; as well as his great grandson Tyren Robinson. He is also survived by his siblings Cindy Bunk (Wally), (Gaylord Sanneman) and Jon Carlson (Kathy), along with many nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Evelyn Mae Carlson, his sister Janelle Sanneman and niece Tracy Bunk.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church. (1092 S. Nome St. Aurora, CO 80012) with a family burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
