Rosalie (Martel) Martinez was born on July 1, 1935 in
Fort Lupton, Colorado to Margaret Olague and Rito Martel. She was the oldest of two children. She married Henry Martinez on February 20, 1955. Rosalie lived her beautiful, full life in
Fort Lupton, Colorado.
Rosalie was educated in Fort Lupton and achieved the honor of High School Valedictorian in 1953. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1958. She was an elementary and migrant school educator for many years. Rosalie earned a Masters of Education at the University of Colorado in Administration in 1984. She served her community in many capacities; a migrant school director, a bilingual director and Principal of Twombly Elementary. Rosalie was a Director for the Colorado State Department in the Bilingual Unit and an Associate Director and Teacher trainer for the Bueno Center at the University of Colorado. After forty-one years, Rosalie retired in 1998.
Rosalie supported her community by serving on several committees, numerous boards, including the library and housing authority, and the city council. She volunteered in various capacities at St. Williams Catholic Church and enjoyed time with the book club ladies, playing canasta, supporting many of Lupton's sports' teams and spending time with the grandbabies. Rosalie's many activities reflected her values of faith, education and service to others.
Rosalie was grateful for her loving parents who overcame many obstacles in obtaining the American dream. She surrounded herself with people who refused to accept the status quo and supported each other. Rosalie's strong faith in God guided her throughout her life. Rosalie's husband, her children and family's love, gave her the strength and energy to carry on. She gave more than she received.
Rosalie is survived by her husband, Henry; daughters Roxanne (Keith) Andersen, Geraldine (Tom) Holton, Elaina (Joe) King, Margaret (Gary) Brink and son Henry (Anne) Martinez; along with thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
