Rudolph "Rudy" Roybal Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share that our beloved Rudy passed away on March 11, 2026, at the age of 85. He was deeply loved by his wife of 68 years, and cherished by his children: Julie Roybal, Arlene McClellen (Steve), Rhonda Ficco (Kevin), Desiree Turner (Brian) and Rudy Jr (Devan). He was the most beloved grandfather of Matthew and Steven McClellen, Anthony and Natalie Ficco, Trinity and Savanna Turner, and Austin, Tristin and Caydance Roybal. He was also a proud and loving great-grandfather (GG) to Ashlyn, JJ, Caleb, Quinn, Avery, Noah and Rowan.

Preceded in death by his mother Rose Costello and father Elias Roybal. His sister DeDe Lucero and brothers John, Ernie, and Joe Costello.

Rudy was born in Walsenburg Colorado on May 7, 1940, and moved with his family to Denver at a very young age. He attended school at Mitchell, Cole, and graduated from Manual High School. Rudy and Juanita were childhood sweethearts and married on September 7, 1957.

Rudy started working at the Pawley company as a shipping clerk. He went to night school for 10 years and retired (after 43 years) as their accountant.

He loved all Denver sports teams, especially the Denver Broncos, owning season tickets since 1963. He also loved the New York Yankees and the Boston Celtics. He was blessed to be able to travel extensively.

Rudy was baptized as a Seventh-Day Adventist in March 1995. An active member, he held the office of treasurer of the International SDA company for 35 years. Rudy was also involved in many outreach ministries for the Lord.
