Sandy was born in 1941 in the Bronx near Yankee Stadium. At an early age she moved to Cold Springs, New York, across the river from West Point which might explain her lifelong love for men in uniform. In middle school her family relocated to Carolina Beach, North Carolina. It was a culture shock for Sandy to move from the North to the South. People used the term Yankee a lot and she was confused why everyone were talking about her beloved baseball team. She fell in love with the South. She loved going crabbing and floating in the canal. She survived Hurricane Hazel although her family lost everything. They moved to the city of Wilmington, North Carolina, where she graduated from High School. The football star Roman Gabriel was a classmate, and she was a huge fan of his. Sandy remained in touch with her high school friends throughout her life.
At eighteen years old, Sandy married Ed and Scott's father and relocated to southern California. She moved to Colorado to tend to her dying mother where she stayed and raised her boys. She worked at Crane Supply as a plumbing supply rep. She then went to work at JN Marshal where she was the manufacturers rep for State Water Heaters. It was there that she first met David over the phone as he was living in Wyoming and working for AMFAC. Their friendship grew as they spoke to each other over the next year. They finally met in person in 1983 and they were married three months later at Little Church of the West in Las Vegas. David had a daughter Kirsten. Shortly after Sandy and David were married, Sandy joined Ed at Ovation Plumbing. She worked with Ed as the Office Manager until she retired seventeen years ago.
Sandy loved cats, geese, flowers, and the color purple. She loved wonderful aromas all around her. She was an avid shopper. She loved to wander the stores looking at the beautiful clothing and feeling the fabrics. She was a sports fan and loved cheering on Alabama after her grandson decided to go to college there. Above all Sandy loved her family.
Sandy made everything fun, and we will miss her so much.
Sandy's son Ed is married to Joy, and they have two adult children, Rylie and Sawyer; Scott is married to Jackie. Kirsten is married to Steve. They have two children, David who is father to Cayden (8) and Liz who is mother to Wade (7).
Visiting with family and friends will be 10:00am Friday, March 3 at Horan & McConaty, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton CO 80229.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00am Friday, March 3 from the chapel of Horan & McConaty, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton CO 80229. Reception will follow in Grant Reception Center.
