Bill passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025, after a brief home hospice stay. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on September 10, 1947. After receiving his degree in Business Administration in 1970 from Wichita State he moved with his wife and son and started a new life in Colorado. He went on to work at well-known companies such as Security Pacific, Wells Fargo and Norwest. He later owned his own private mortgage company and was also a successful day trader
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Carleton Oxley and Helen Stein Oxley and his brother James C. Oxley.
He is survived by his wife of over 35 years Lu Oxley. He is also survived by his son David C. Oxley and his daughter in law Patricia Oxley, his daughter Deborah L Medhurst, son in law Mark Medhurst, and Grandchildren Jackson, Harlow and Henry and his sister Patti Oxley.
Bill loved his family, flying his own plane, water skiing, snowmobiling, playing chess online and with family members. He appreciated cars, buying them, restoring them and driving them. He enjoyed vacations with Lu and their friends from Lincoln, Neb – Tom and Sharon McDonald. The first item into the suitcase was always a chess board for Tom and Bill to continue their chess games. But above all else, he loved his family and will be sorely missed by all of them.
A private memorial celebration will be held by the family.
Many thanks to the staff at Berkley Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
