William Lee Carter Jr. Obituary

William Lee Carter, Jr. ("Will"), 52, of Denver, died in a car accident on July 9, 2025.

Born in Indiana, he grew up in the Chicago area and graduated from the University of Illinois. In 2011, Will moved to Denver with his wife, Lori, where they shared a love of exploring Colorado's mountains, lakes, and rivers-hiking, snowshoeing, and bicycling together year-round.

A software engineer and geographic information systems designer, Will was also deeply artistic and endlessly curious. He enjoyed experimenting with new media and sharing games and craft projects to bring family and friends together. He was known for showing up-forming discussion groups and skillfully encouraging others to engage. Friends and loved ones remember him for his gentle presence, thoughtful support, and compassionate heart.

May he rest in peace knowing that he was loved by many and left an indelible mark on those around him.

Will is survived by his wife, Lori Goldstein; brothers, Ryan (Amy) and Micah (Beren Lindenberg); nephews Quinn, Cole, and Keaton, and Noah-Quinn; and his father, William Carter, Sr. He was predeceased by his mother, Lisa Ann (Seals) Carter.

A Memorial will be held on Sunday, August 10th at Hearthstone Cohousing, 4700 W. 37th Avenue, Denver, CO 80212. Friends may gather beginning at 10:00 AM. Memorial will start at 10:30 AM. A light reception will follow for sharing memories.

Billy and Lori used to run a movie critique meeting in chgo. We would all go to a movie and then a restaurant. Billy was always so sweet as to want me to speak my thoughts among all the friends that would be there. I love that boy. Love Aunt Rosa
