Edith Dombroski Obituary

Edith (Stearns) Dombroski
Edith (Stearns) Dombroski, 90, of East Windsor, wife of the late Vincent J. Dombroski and daughter of the late Garland and Viola (Beauregard) Stearns passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023, with her family by her side.
Edith was born June 30, 1933, in Concord, New Hampshire and was the middle child out of 7 children. The family moved to Connecticut in 1942 where she attended Grammar School and Buckley High School. After completing school, she held jobs in several insurance companies in the area.
She would then find her true love, Vincent J. Dombroski and they were married November 19, 1955, and began their family. They moved to East Windsor where they would raise their children. She worked many years in the school system in the cafeteria where she was the favorite "Lunch Lady". As the children got older, she would then go on to work at Easco Hand Tools and later started a career at Cardinal Health where she would work until her retirement. After retirement Edie had to be kept busy so she had a part-time job at Big Y as a food demonstrator where she loved to cook for everyone.
Edie's greatest treasure was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Watching her children become loving parents and carry out family traditions meant everything to her. She enjoyed cooking Sunday dinner with the family over. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving especially in later years where we would gather at the firehouse with family and friends.
Edie was always lending a helping hand and enjoyed being able to take care of everyone she could. She would always make you feel welcome as soon as you walked through her door. Her greatest pleasure in later years was being able to take care of flowers on the graves of all the loved ones she has missed for so many years. Don't worry mom, we will do our best to make you proud and take over where you left off.
She is survived by two daughters Diane Newell and husband Norman, Lori Titus and husband Andy and two sons Ray Dombroski and Tom Dombroski all of East Windsor. She leaves her grandchildren Christine Lavoie and husband Matt of Enfield, Andrea Newell of Phoenix, AZ, Chelsey Dombroski and husband Phil of Southington, Joe Titus of Ashland, OH, Ryan Newell of East Windsor, Anna Dombroski of Windsor Locks and Jonathan Titus of East Windsor. She leaves five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, neighborhood kids who she loved like her own, as well as many close friends throughout the years. She also leaves two cherished friendships that meant the world to her. Dorothy Pierson her lifelong friend back to the days at Buckley High and Doris Radziewicz where their friendship began back in the day of Little League and PTA with their kids. She was forever grateful for the friendship she had with the neighbors Mr. and Mrs. LeBlanc. Edith was predeceased by a son baby Michael, her six siblings Junior, Ella, George, Bill, Beverly and Doug and her cherished neighbors of more than 50 years Glenn and Jean Root.
Relatives and friends may join the family on Friday, December 15, 2023, between 10 a.m.-12 p.m. with a Funeral Home Service at 12 p.m. at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner Street, East Windsor, CT. Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery in East Windsor, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Warehouse Point Fire Distict. Such sad news to hear about Edie, but I know she and my mom are gabbing away about families and friends they shared together. Her picture brings back so many memories when she'd be visiting my mom in Windsor Locks and I too, would come to visit from Vermont. Please extend our condolences of love to all of you that were part Edie's life. She was a very special lady.
Love,
Susan Talbot (Sadosky)
