Carl Durst Obituary

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Carl B. 'Captain' Durst, passed away on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at home with his wife at his side.

There will be no prior calling hours. A remembrance ceremony will be held in the Spring.

Carl was born May 5, 1943 in Batavia, the son of Carl Edward Durst and Dorothy Meta Barber.

Carl leaves his wife, Cynthia Kerr; children, Richard (Ellen) Durst, Sheryl (Jason) Haas, and Barbara (Brian) Halpin; extended family, Megan (Jason) Bostock, Devon (Stefani) Kerr, and Ryan (Marcia) Kerr; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carl served in the Navy on the Harold J. Ellison as on the underwater dive team. After the Navy, he worked at General Motors. After retirement, Carl enjoyed doing boat tours on the Erie Canal on his boat, the Meta. He then enjoyed traveling with his wife, Cindy, through her traveling nurse assignments in Arizona, Hawaii, and Florida. Carl was a gentleman and loved his family.
