Mark Wierda Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 12, 2025.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Wade Wierda Sr., age 65. Mark passed away suddenly at his home in Williston, FL, on January 2, 2025. A beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather. Mark left an indelible mark on the community through his exceptional work as a painting contractor and his unwavering dedication to the craft for over 40 years.

Mark never met a stranger and was a well-known and respected figure in the areas he lived and worked. He had a heart full of adventure and a spirit that made those around him feel welcome and valued. His wit, kindness, and laid-back outlook on life will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Whenever Mark had a moment to spare or found himself near water, you could be certain he would find a way to fish. So much of his life centered around being on a boat, and casting a line. But those who knew him best were also familiar with his unexpected passion for gardening. His orchids, in particular, held a special place in his heart, a living tribute to his parents. He cherished them, capturing each new bloom from his mom's orchid in photographs and sharing the joy with loved ones.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mary Wierda, a brother, John Wierda, a sister, Norma Wierda, and brother-in-law, Dennis Ball. He is survived by his wife, Cheri Jenkins, sisters Sue Ball, and Carrie Sullivan (Wayne), a brother, George Wierda (Julie), his four children Wade Wierda (Cheryl), Lukas Wierda (Heather), Sarah Wierda, and Sam Wierda, as well as his nine grandchildren, Reagan, Jack, Hannah, Finn, Brianna, Luke, Landon, Addison, and Declan, who will continue to honor his memory through the love and wisdom he instilled in them.

Mark may be gone, but his larger than life personality, laughter, and his kindness will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
