Willard Patterson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 31, 2025.
Willard C. Patterson Jr., 67, of Goshen, Kentucky, passed away on January 28, 2025.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Julie Patterson; his mother, Mary Jacqueline Hicks Patterson; his sons, Nicholas Patterson (Jordyn) and Daniel Mora (Alexandria); and his grandson, Gabriel Mora. Willard is also survived by his sisters, Stephanie Patterson (Joseph Tworek) and Bonita Patterson.

In addition to his family, Willard shared a deep bond with several cherished friends who stood by him through all of life's moments: Bill Sainz, Joey Antkies, Haley Cundiff, and Michelle Diggs.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Candice Mora; his son Willard Patterson III; and his father, Willard C. Patterson Sr.

Willard will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and compassion toward others. A proud graduate of Michigan State University, he built a distinguished career as a mechanical engineer, project manager, and business analyst. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he found joy in skiing and reading and was deeply committed to mentoring young people as a Boy Scout leader with Troop 30 in Louisville for many years. He also loved working on projects with his family that brought them closer together.

For 27 years, Willard was a devoted member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Louisville, Kentucky. His faith and community were central to his life and provided him with strength throughout the years.

The family would like to express their eternal gratitude to the doctors and staff at the University of Louisville Hospital-especially Dr. M. Hegazi and Whitney Barbour-for their tireless efforts in treating Willard during his battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7th, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at St. Thomas Episcopal Church located at 9616 Westport Road, Louisville, KY 40241. A memorial service will follow on Saturday, February 8th at 11:30 a.m., with a reception afterward to celebrate Willard's life.

Willard's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his legacy bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.

I remember Will from my childhood!! He was such a fun and special friend of my brother Bill´s!
When my brother had heart surgery, some years ago, Will drove up to Michigan. Good friends sitting on the porch talking and sharing memories, holding space for one another. What a giving, kind friend who will be missed daily.

Will was my son´s troop 30 leader. He was very kind, loved kids, was a true mentor. So many years passed, my son still remembers him and the impact he made on students. He was always nice to everyone, polite and quiet. He was very knowledgeable, but didn´t make people feel like he was superior. So sorry for your great loss
