LARRY HUSKEY Obituary

LARRY HUSKEY Larry Lee Huskey passed away at the age of 88 on January 30, 2025 at the VA in Boise, ID. He was born March 15, 1936 at home in Cascade across from the #1 Hole (golf course) to Vance and Lillian (Susie) Huskey. He graduated from Donnelly-McCall High School in 1954 (yes, back then it was Donnelly-McCall High School!). He then graduated from the University of Idaho at Pocatello (1955-1957) with a diploma in Auto Mechanics and Body & Fender. After college he was drafted, during peace time (1960-62), into the Army. Due to the Cuban Missile Crisis, Larry's tour was extended by 14 days, which upset Larry to no end! In 1962 Larry's folks bought the American Station, (parking lot north of the courthouse). This service station was the beginning of Huskey's Automotive Service & Used Cars. In 1963 Larry went to work for his folks. In 1968 they bought the Texaco station, where Huskey's shop is now and he has been there ever since.Larry was always interested in cars, their speed and power, building, selling or racing them. He even joked that he had some of his cars longer than any of his kids. Larry enjoyed being involved in the community. He was a member of the Lions Club (held every office through the years) and the Hi Country Cruisers Club. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Vance & Susie (Neyers); brother Russell; sister Gayle; half-brother Robert; and half-sister Willa Joann. He is survived by: his daughter Staci (Warren) Sedlacek; son Steve Huskey, granddaughter Kayla Welsh, grandson Louis Hammond; son Scott (Brandi) Huskey, granddaughter Rowan; lifelong friend Ron Ildvad, whom he met in the Army; the kid's mom, Barb Cummings; Linda Huskey (they were in each other's lives for 45 years); and of course, his 52' Willys Lark & his 64' Toyota FJ45 Landcruiser Shortbox Pickup (one of only 800 produced). Graveside services will be held this spring on June 7th at the Margaret Cemetery at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider sharing a fun story with someone to remember Dad or rev your engine in salute!

Larry and his family took my sister,(Jeanie Gibbons), and I took my sister and I in during a family crisis. He and his family were warm and welcoming. While we stayed with them we were treated as family. I have nothing but warm memories of our extended stay. I can't convay the deepest graditude I have for the Huskey family.
Larry was light hearted even when we tried pranking him as children. He will be greatly missed.
