Francis Dobrowolski Obituary

Francis Alan Dobrowolski
01/27/2025
Alan Dobrowolski, 79, of East Hampton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Bristol Hospital following a long and challenging illness. Alan was born on February 22, 1945 in New Britain, CT, the son of the late Francis H. and Genevieve (Lukowski) Dobrowolski.
Alan had a long and successful career in sales – working at Aussie, Twinlabs, Sheffield Laboratories, and lastly in the toy business. He enjoyed his time riding in his BMW with the convertible top down to Lenny and Joes, fishing, tinkering in the garage, gardening, and was always up for a cup of coffee. He spent his last years working at his friend's hobby shop, the Time Machine, and was meticulous at assembling model cars. He loved to ride his bike on the Farmington rail trail and biking paths in Northampton. He always looked forward to his family vacations to New Hampshire, Maine, Cape Cod, Westbrook and most recently to Hawk's Nest this past summer.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalind of East Hampton whom he celebrated 41 years of marriage this past New Year's Eve, his children, Julie Nosal of Berlin, Erin Nosal of Unionville, Jessica and David Dobrowolski of Burlington, and Sarah Arseneault and her husband Peter of Haddam. He was the loving grandfather to Maisey Zuder of Berlin and Brady and Brooke Arseneault of Haddam. He leaves two sisters, Marilyn Elwell of Portland, and Gloria Meickle and her husband Jack of Newington as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the proud son-in-law of Louise Essick of Salisbury, MD as well as his sister in law, Linda Cockey of Salisbury. He was
predeceased by his parents, as well as his siblings, Diane Ziomek, Christine Kolej, and Jack Shappy as well as his father-in-law Thomas Essick, brother-law John J. Ziomek, Sr., and nephew JJ Ziomek. He will be reunited with his best friend Tom Markiewicz and we are sure that they will be back on the boat enjoying the high seas and fair winds.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Bristol Hospital Senior Behavioral Health Unit for all their support and love for Alan over the last 3 months as well as the staff of Bristol Hospital Floor G Medical Team and Hospice Care – we appreciate everything you have done for Alan and our family. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St. East, Hampton on Wednesday morning Feb. 5, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., follow by the Funeral Liturgy at St. John Paul II Parish of St. Patrick Church in East Hampton at 11:00 a.m.
