Kenneth Pfeifer Obituary

Kenneth R. Pfeifer
Kenneth R. Pfeifer passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, in Dwight, at the age of 97. Born on February 5, 1927, in the small town of Mazon, Ken was the cherished son of the late Marvin and Alma (Lippold) Pfeifer. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, community service, and devotion to family.
Ken grew up on the family farm and attended Mazon Township High School, graduating in 1945. His education laid a foundation for a lifetime of diligence and commitment to his community. Ken's work ethic was evident through his successful career as a farmer and as the self-owner operator of a school bus service for Mazon Schools. In 1988, he returned to the family homestead.
Throughout his life, Ken was deeply involved in his community. He was a proud member of Masonic Lodge #826 since 1953, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to the principles of Freemasonry. His involvement with the Mohammed Shrine of Peoria and the Morris Shrine Club further illustrated his dedication to charitable work and fellowship. Ken's faith was an integral part of his life, and he was a dedicated member of the Mazon Methodist Church, where he served on the church board.
Ken also served as a Trustee of the Village of Mazon for 24 years. His love for Mazon was unwavering, and his contributions to the village will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Family was the cornerstone of Ken's life. He is survived by a loving and extensive family, including his sons Greg, Allen (Laurie), Jim (Debra), and Dean (Martha) Pfeifer. His legacy will be carried on by his many grandchildren: Matthew (Jen), Derrick (Shelley), Jeffrey, Kurt (Christen), Keith (Lisa), Daniel (Stefanie), Angela (Cory) Clark, Jodi (Brian) Briggs, Justin (Jennifer), Stephanie (Johnnie) Maddox, Rebecca, and Amy (Dan) Veselak. He was predeceased by his grandchild Melissa Pfeifer and "His Katie", his Love and companion for over 40 years, Catherine Tucek .
Ken's great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy, include Clay, Connor, Raegan, Zach, Gwyneth, Tarah, Cam, Kolten, Kael, Ruger, Lilly, Maggie, Wyatt, Hayden, Blake, Owen, Abbigail, Keegan, Caleb, Tanner (Makenzie), Connor, Chloe, Kate, Cali, James, Dean (Katie), Brad (Destiny), Kade, Kaylee, Melia, Max, Jack and Sam. His great-great-grandchildren, Tatum and one expected in July 2025, will grow up hearing the cherished stories of their beloved ancestor.
Memorials may be made in Ken's name to the Grundy County Housing Authority.
