200 Butternut Drive
Fredericksburg, Virginia
The daughter of Thomas G. Morton and Essie Morton Lewis, Phyllis Morton Ennis was born on February 22, 1938, and peacefully passed into eternal rest on Friday, April 11, 2025.
Phyllis attended Walker-Grant High School, where she met the love of her life, Levert Ennis. After graduating, she pursued her passion for helping others by attending Virginia Union University, where she earned her nursing degree. Following college, Phyllis and Levert married, and she began her long and dedicated career at Mary Washington Hospital as an Emergency Room nurse. Phyllis faithfully served at Mary Washington from June 1946 until her retirement in April 2000.
After retiring, Phyllis found joy in camping, fishing, gardening, and cooking. Above all, she cherished spending time with her devoted husband of fifty-four years, Levert. Phyllis also treasured visiting her grandchildren and spending time with former co-workers, neighbors, and dear friends.
Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy, her devoted son, Philip Ennis of Fredericksburg; her loving daughter, Lynette Thompson, and husband Raye of El Paso, TX; her four beloved grandchildren, Jordan, Markus, Ennis, and Doran Thompson; as well as a host of relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church New Site, on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Click here to view a live streaming of the funeral service. The interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
