Alice Aleen (Brunow) Rietzke was born in Smith County, KS on December 13, 1928 and entered heaven's gates on April 25, 2025. What a joyous heavenly reunion it was!
Alice was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Church Germantown. She attended Kensington High School, graduating in the class of 1946.
Alice married Erwin Rietzke, after he returned from the war, on September 18, 1949. This union was blessed with three children, Jerry, Jayne and Vincent. She was blessed to have them live near her throughout her life.
Alice was a faithful member and servant of First St. John Lutheran Church, Kensington. She served in various positions over the years; as an organist, church secretary, LWML member, guild, member of the quilting ladies and wherever else she was needed. Church was a very important part of her life.
A passion of Alice's was cooking for and spending time with her family. Her pies are famous throughout town, bringing top dollar on Veterans day! Many card games and meals have been shared around the dining room table over the years, even late into the night with many friends. She taught us many lessons from the importance of faith, attending church, family time, games and the art of baking as well as many other core values we hope to carry on. She was a pillar of strength and selflessness, our true cornerstone!
Alice's joy was her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She enjoyed attending as many of their activities as possible. After it became difficult to attend everything, she was glad to be able to watch the events on her IPad. The grandkids were blessed with many memories at grandma's house, from sleepovers on the living room floor to the love of game playing!
Alice was preceded in death by parents August and Minnie Brunow, siblings Edwin, Alene, Lawrence, Pearl (Townsend) and Homer Brunow, her husband Erwin, her daughter Jayne Scott, son-in-law Waverly Scott, and granddaughter Erin Rietzke. Survivors include: sons Jerry (Dixie) Rietzke, and Vincent (Kim) Rietzke of Kensington, grandchildren Ryan (Tiffany) Rietzke, Courtney (Mark) Friesen, McKenzie (Grant) Bailey, Brooke (Darin) McDowell, Kyle (Kelly) Scott, Lucas (Barbara) Scott, Jess (Stacy) Rietzke and Cade (Danielle) Rietzke, Great-grandchildren Trent (Keagan), Kennedy & Kamryn Rietzke, Ceeley & Milea Friesen, Jace & Kacen Bailey, Brillon & Breckyn McDowell, Logan Reed & Kynlee Scott, Grayson & Weston Rietzke, Camden & Beau Rietzke and great-great grandchildren Charlie and Hayden Rietzke.

Aunt Alice will always be in our heart forever.
Truly, a wonderful woman of God. I am so blessed that she was my aunt.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you on this day and every day. Always remember the one thing all those great memories she made for all of us.
