Barbara Dornan Obituary

Barbara Ann Dornan, age 82, of Roscommon, Michigan, formerly of Lockport, Illinois, died on Friday, October 11, 2024, at her home, in the presence and comfort of her family.
Barbara was born February 3, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Norbert "Toby" and Rose Novak.
Barbara married David Dornan on November 5th, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois.
As a young girl, Barbara fell in love with motion pictures and often attended movie premieres, becoming lifelong friends with Robert Wagner.
She worked in the travel industry, and for Eastern Airlines. Barbara was passionate about travel and organized many reunions and trips for family and friends. She believed in fighting for what was right and was instrumental in lobbying for the protection of airline employee pass benefits
Her grandchildren brought her great joy; she loved being involved in their sports and activities. Barbara held deep compassion for animals and was active in cat rescue organizations and volunteered at an animal shelter.
Barbara was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, attending daily mass for most of her life. She always had an extra prayer for any person or animal in need.
Barbara will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by David, her beloved husband of nearly 64 years; daughters: Anne (James) Diss and Carol (Christopher) Preston; grandchildren: Ryan Diss, Hannah (Jacob) Teshka, Stefane Preston, David Preston, and Daniel Preston; and great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Hadley; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will also be greatly missed by her 3 rescue cats and her grand-dogs, grand-kitties, great grand-dogs, and great grand-kitties.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Toby and Rose Novak, and her beloved aunt, Rose Schalk.
Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Mass, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 10:00 AM, with an hour of visitation prior, at St. Michael's Catholic Church,104 North 6th Street, Roscommon, Michigan 48653.
A memorial mass and internment at Resurrection Mausoleum in Illinois will be at a later date.
